The first TV series I directed, "Hare tokidoki buta", is my favorite among them all. If you are talking about live action, I like Sci-Fi. I like any Sci-Fi movie with great speed and strong visuals impact. I like cars and I am crazy about "Mad Max". Q: How did you get involved in this work? And what was your first impression of it? I have no idea why I am in this picture. Honestly speaking, the question mark is still on my mind. Well, I was named and I accepted it, so. Before I started to direct this anime, I saw a lot of the Tenchi Muyo series that was send to me. "Wow. This is tough." was my first impression. Q: Please tell us how are you going to contribute yourself to an anime that already has a lot of loyal fans around the world? Ah. I will direct the anime as the director of "GXP" and portrait the world behind "Tenchi Muyo!". Mr. Kajishima already has the images of the setting and story. Therefore I am looking forward to see how I am going to direct it within his vision. So far, I am the director with the reputation of "original story killer" as the anime I direct will be different than the original story. The reason is, I use the way that I read the original story and digest it in my mind and put myself in the worldview of the story and interpret it by my own way. Then again this time, it might be a good idea to use my way of directing "Tenchi Muyo! GXP". But, I would like to use my "originality" as "secret ingredient" to direct it for Mr. Kajishima already created the overwhelming Tenchi world that is too large for me to digest. The large scale of the Tenchi universe is the biggest charming point of "Tenchi Muyo!" and I think my way to present it will be the most delicious way to "cook" it. Please enjoy gorgeous "Tenchi Muyo!
